Engine as a Source of Acoustic Radiation into the Air Environment of the Machine Room

Abstract
An engine not only acts as a source of mechanical energy but also as a powerful generator of acoustic radiation. Its operation involves a complex set of physical processes that inevitably generate sound waves that propagate into the room's air. This phenomenon requires detailed consideration, as noise directly impacts the working conditions of personnel, the reliability of equipment, and the acoustic climate of the entire building. Understanding the nature of engine acoustic radiation opens the way to targeted noise management. The first and most effective method is to address the source directly. This involves improving engine design: using more rigid cylinder blocks, optimizing the shape of combustion chambers to reduce the rate of pressure buildup, using damping inserts in pistons and connecting rods, and implementing precision injection systems that minimize detonation.
